Zaro Bates Silverwolff (she/her), PCD(DONA)
Zaro became fascinated with pregnancy, birth, and the new parenthood journey when she became a mom in 2019.
She launched Wolf Pack Doula in August 2022 and to date has provided postpartum doula care to over 50 families. She is a Certified Postpartum Doula with DONA-International.
Formerly an urban farmer and agricultural project designer, Zaro brings a combination of reverence for natural systems along with a pragmatic and sensitive approach to supporting each unique family system in the time of caring for a newborn. She has worked with clients who choose exclusive breastfeeding, exclusive pumping, combo feeding, formula feeding, and through a variety of complex and unexpected conditions.
She has a knack for finding ways to help even when clients are too tired to make a list. She loves the versatility of doula service– from deep chats with clients, to baby care, research and practical household support, she is 100% there for it all!
In addition to her postpartum practice, Zaro is studying midwifery and has worked as a birth assistant in two midwifery practices.
How do wolves raise their pups?
In a wolf pack, a mother wolf is not alone in caring for the pups. When the pups are newborn, other pack members bring food to the mother so she does not have to leave the den.
Rituals of postnatal support are still practiced in many communities around the world, and were common in traditional cultures. When parents receive care from supportive adults at this crucial time of transition, they can focus on resting, bonding, and adapting to their new family dynamic.
